The first thing first is that, I have changed my domain name from revivevanitywithme to revivelifewithme because I strongly felt during this pandemic it is important to cover essential topics and not just vanity. So henceforth, I have decided to share my take on various topics including health, diet, skin/hair care, and of course cosmetics too!

These days, life is becoming a bit sedentary… if we think, we have very fewer choices left as far as physical activities are concerned. So Yes!! Yoga or Gym at home will be an excellent choice to make during these days as it will add plus points to live a life perfect & stress-free…on top of it if food habits are right then it would be the best combination to balance it with the desired output.

It is one of the great snacks to satiate those untimely hunger pangs and no more guilt trips!!!!!! My 4 years old daughter often likes to eat Makhana over popcorn. Being a mother I am so glad that she is learning to make healthy choices…. And this was the one more reason I wanted to write about this. When we visit the grocery store, aisles are filled with packed food/ready-made or ready to eat (instant) products being marketed with “Healthy” labels but irony is, it is one of the most highly “unhealthy” food available on the earth!!!

So don’t worry let’s talk about something good and totally natural….!

Here it is our superfood(snack) “Makhana” also known as “Fox nuts or lotus seeds” which comes from a plant “Euryale Fox “. It is a very popular snack in India from ancient times and hence it has a very rich history and importance in religious ceremonies. In India, during fasting or in festival seasons you will find it in almost every Indian kitchen. It is one of the best options available snack which is super nutritious and healthy. There are so many things to tell you about it but I am going to comprise it with mainly writing about its health benefits and other key roles if we incorporate Makhana in our diet.

Let’s learn about how it is beneficial and healthy for us!

It is low in sodium and rich in magnesium so far better than what we eat for snacks like packed food viz. chips, Cheetos, etc.
It is naturally gluten free, anti-ageing and anti-inflammatory.
Makhana is low in calories and high in carbohydrates.
It is a superfood as they are low in cholesterol and fat.
It is a good very source of protein and there are so many recipes to make it delicious to incorporate into a daily diet.
They are rich in calcium as well so before the doctor prescribes any tablets, I would say it’s better to eat natural remedies to make bones stronger.
For my friends who are diabetic, I would say munch on it.
And last but not least, because of its good nutrition value, it will be your best friend during the weight loss journey.

Recipes !

Possibilities are endless and depend on your personal taste. I would say just think about popcorn flavors and replace them with Makhana as simple as that. Basic idea is to roast it or fry it in little oil (of your choice) and sprinkle some salt. Can also add black paper, red chili powder just to make it spicy if you like!….. Makhana is available in a lot of gourmet stores…I have also tried Mint flavor but not a fan of it… I personally like to fry it in a Ghee (Clarified butter), add some turmeric and salt…Voila! crispy snack is ready !!!!

Makhana snack is very popular in East Asia as well. They have other reasons to believe in it, not just as a food but in their medicines too. I have read a few articles wherein they mentioned it and its usage in medicines !!! Omg…it is one of the holly molly natural product gifted by nature to us…so useful !!!

Now every country/region has some special flavors to blend in and so it makes every snack unique. Today, I am going to review the most beautiful eye shadow palette by Tarte. I know, it has been out there for quite a long time. But I could not stop myself to share it with you all. I do not own a lot of eye shadow palette as I am very particular about it so mostly end up buying single shadows n place it in my magnetic pallets. This way I try to customize it. I always wanted something different eye palette so that I can use it for every day, for any special occasion all in one. And when I saw it, I had to buy it.

This palette has 20 shades to play with including mattes too !!! This is so cool that we don’t have to run to get the mattes for a transition color. Now again it depends on what kind of look you want to create. However, this one has versatile colors and super blendable. Believe me! It is so so pigmented and opaque. There are six finishes Matte, Luster, Metallic, Duo-chrome, Shimmer, and floating glitter.. (So much of Mica …lol…..ha ha ha !!!!!) but it is a really good one to experiment with various eye looks. You can either use your fingertips to apply or can use multiple colors to create a unique look.

If you really would like to get your hand on this eyeshadow palette! then you should…Christmas is just around the corner!!! I am sure you will fall in love with every color in it…In a hurry!! just sweep it across (Single eye shadow) and ready to go…….Wish I could show you all the colors on me right now but work is in progress 🙂 as there are a lot of colors to work with!!! If someone asks me to pick one color it would be “Create”…such a gorgeous color and whenever I open it, tip of my finger just want to touch it as if it is on Auto-pilot mode..ha ha ha ha !!!!!

I generally do not spend much on eye shadows and searched for something which literally has all in one and I found it. I ordered it from Tartecosmetics.com at a discounted/sale price.

Aveeno Baby Eczema Therapy Cream! Yay or Nay !

I know the real struggle to get rid of Eczema as there is no permanent cure for it (until now) but can manage to keep it at bay by maintaining the skincare routine and providing the required hydration which can help to win the long term race. It is indeed a crucial task especially for kids who get affected the most by Eczema. We all want best of best for our children, no matter what it takes. On top of it, skin issues make us more worried as we don’t want to put anything on their skin without having trust in what we are using.

When my daughter was a baby and about 6 months old or so, I started noticing very dry patches on her hand, tummy and mostly near folds on legs and it was itchy too….Initially, I thought it may be a result of the wrong body wash or probably some rash. But when I contacted her Pediatrician, she told me about Eczema. Then the next thing I did, I googled it. It was a whole new chapter for me!!!

Her pediatrician recommended a prescription-strength cream and suggested a couple of OTC ointments. So our first choice was Aquaphore which comes in a jar and has tons of good reviews. It is a multipurpose ointment but mainly used for diaper rash. It is a good one but was not for my baby. We end up using a few more other products for Eczema but no satisfying outcome.

Being parents, we were actually a little bit confused and was dwelling on the thought of “may or may not be” but finally gathered some courage to buy it. Apparently, it turned out to be a must-have cream for my daughter. So, Let’s see what is so special about it!

Its active ingredient is Oatmeal. It is the superfood for the skin and body as well. It works as a cooling agent on dry /irritated skin or inflamed skin. It has a perfect balance of pH and so helps to provide a sufficient amount of moisture to the skin. It reduces the itching, acts as a barrier and protects eczema-prone skin from outside weather. The results are very surprising. I mean, it is one of the OTC creams which really works as a good juju!!!!. I must mention here that my daughter is now 4years old and I still use this Aveeno Baby eczema cream for her. No more replacement. This is a holy product for my girl. This one has proved “The one”, indeed true to its promise.

Mesmerizing brand advertisement with fully edited model’s face by skillful graphics designer….lol !!! very first question we ask ourselves, save or splurge? Big logos & fancy keywords look so promising that we almost convince ourselves to make a purchase. Having said that,it’s all about hit or miss!

Today, I picked up a face scrub to review. A very simple product & necessary step to complete our skincare routine. Just to let you know that I have combination skin with oily T-zone and usually not very sensitive.

Start from left Clinique pep-start exfoliating cleanser and St.Ives oatmeal scrub & mask

St. Ives Smooth Oatmeal Scrub & Mask

Oatmeal is a self-explanatory word. Instantly indicates a very soothing and calming ingredient for the skin. It is such great a gentle exfoliating scrub available in the market, efficiently removes all the dirt & residual grime after removing makeup or cleansing face. I am so obsessed with this one and do not want to go for any other scrubs. It contains a very tiny and tender walnut shell granules, feels so soft yet strong enough to buff away dead skin cells. The best part is, you can use it as a mask as well to add on extra care towards your beauty goals. I prefer to use it on the cleansed face leaving some dampness to it then massaging it in a circular motion for a minute or so.

Best natural exfoliating scrub for all skin types. It instantly provides softness and nourishment after first use. Ready to see your healthy & glowing face with every wash. Does not dry your skin at all.
Just need a dime size to scrub & massage the face. It’s a paraben-free & oil-free. Non-comedogenic.

Clinique Pep-Start™ 2-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser

Here we go!!!! Clinique is a very well known brand for all of us. I have always loved their products especially their moisture surge skincare line. I just love it. I am enchanted by them.

Clinique 2-in-1 exfoliating cleanser is a gel cleanser and a scrub mixed together. Gel gets its job done of cleansing the face efficiently with the help of small exfoliating granules. It is a very powerful and time-saving formula, especially when running short of time. But my take on this product is little deviated comparing to what it is explained on the clinique website.

It is 2-in-1 exfoliating cleanser and exfoliator.
Just need a small amount of product, lather it up and massage onto damp skin. The recipe is great enough to take away dirt, impurities, and dead skin cells.
Apart from giving a nice glow, the formula is too drying as if it has sucked every bit of oil out of your face. It leaves skin with stretchy feeling and craves for moisturizer.
Not at all recommendable for dry skin types.
Red alert for a group of sensitive people as it tends to leave dry patches and can cause irritation.
Its retails price is $19.50 (US Dollars)
Results are not satisfying (at least in my case) and wish Clinique change the formula in the future so giving it 3 Stars.

Different hair different story, satisfaction is all we need. Hope your struggle ends here after reading this post. A very genuine extraordinary serum/Leave-in treatment by CHI and giving a very miraculous result after every application.

This one works like a magic wand for a coarse or wavy hair like I have. Only serum/leave-in that is proven to be the best in the market so far in my opinion. Even if I am not into any hair- styling mood, I use it to get that soft velvety touch, feels so good when I run fingers through my hair. Now, I am not sure if it works as a heat-protectant but CHI claims to be the one that protects the hair against thermal styling and the environment. I use “CHI 44 Iron Guard” thermal protection spray after applying leave-in and very pleased with its effect..No more split ends!!!!

Fine or thin hairs beware !!! Don’t go overboard with it. You might want to dispense a very little amount of product to stay away from greasy or sticky hair. It has that power to attract even a tiny strand of hair towards it. Trust me!

Taking good care of hair just not limited to one thing/a product but its a result which goes hand in hand with other different hair masks, serums or leave-in, shampoo & conditioner, heat protectant, hair treatment, hair oil,etc. However, I would recommend CHI Silk Infusion Silk Reconstructing Complex to my friends and family. Origins Ginzing refreshing eye cream to brighten and depuff. A very gentle cream for eyes yet an effective recipe to fight against dullness, under eye bags, puffiness and dark circles & it is Pricey too. At first I was little skeptical and did not want to add new member to my skin care routine as I was indeed trying to use all the free eye cream samples (Yes! trial size..lol!!!!) I received with my online orders. Oh wait ! now I remember I have also tried one from Sephora brand n it was ok!ok! though. Now let’s focus on our todays review.

So what I love about this product? just after first application one can see a visible difference. Consistency of the cream is so beautiful and light weight no more stretchy feeling no irritation except when try to get close to eyes. It is an excellent eye tonic for all skin types. Very balanced cream having richness of caffeine will make your eyes more awake n helps to regain a healthy look after a few application.A little goes a long way so not to worry at all. I apply twice a day or as needed and I don’t have any reason to dislike it. It does its job very well to get rid of eye bags or puffiness instantly. Just FYI i have a combination skin and also use it under my eye makeup yet no complaints. But girls with very oily skin tone might want to give it a second thought…Not so sure if it will get its job done with under eye makeup. Sensitive girls,I would recommend to check it personally in the store by applying a tester to back of your hand just to figure out its loyalty towards you (if possible avoid it now due to COVID-19).

I don’t have prominent dark circles around eyes as such but I have very tiny white patches under my eyes, even I am not sure about it. Since, I have started using it one can barely notice it. I am so happy & love it to the moon. This is it, my quest for a perfect eye cream has ended, at least for now…

My top 3 Mac lipsticks for all skin tones

Let’s talk on very interesting topic today and yess! as you read the caption it’s “Lipstick”. No matter how old we are, no matter if we are Dark ,Brown or white & no matter if we are beginner or professional it will always find its way to our vanity or most of the time in a hand purse. It has earned its place in our heart so on the lips. Look at just any lip products you own even if sitting ideally you will definitely want to swatch it. I know I know ! it’s Tempting. Anyway, time to dig into it.

Before we start I would like tell all my friends that that MAC Lipsticks offer different types of finishes/textures so always recommendable to understand it when you add it in your shopping cart. Some formulas glides so beautifully on lips that it takes us straight to Hawaii & some are so true to its nature specially Retro Matte lipsticks that it needs a lot of efforts to apply it but results are amazing though. No doubt !!!!

Mac Diva

If somebody is already following Mac lipsticks then they will probably laugh at me as Mac Diva is already into the “Limelight” so what’s the point reviewing it now ? yeah I get it girls but every opinion counts so let’s continue. It is an intense reddish- burgundy color as described on the company website but for me it looks like a dark burgundy berry color with a matte finish. It has a huge fan followers across the world. It is the most beautiful & sought after Lipstick from Mac and will take your style swag to the next level. At the same time it is very dark color so some of you might think its a vampy color and I am totally agree with you!LoL!. All skin tone can pull it off it is so comfortable matte on the lips such a luxurious formula and excellent color pay off in a single swipe. Oh! I love to see this one particularly on my brown and dark beauties I can’t take my eyes off it is so irresistible. Formula is long lasting but might need a touch up after 6 hours or so as it’s a creamy matte.

Mac Ruby Woo

This one is the iconic red lipstick which will suit all skin tones without any second thought and have won so many “best lipstick awards” being popular shade it has always been a talk of the town. Such a unique vivid cherry red with blue undertone and again bestseller from Mac. It is a Retro Matte finish lipstick & has opaque application and thus name says it all a very matte or one can say a true matte. Lips to be Prepped n Prime before applying retro matte is advisable that too with a lip liner just to avoid feathering or else it will give you a very hard time for application. Believe me I have tried it in the past without exfoliation and it was totally gross! no one wants to be seen with cracked or chapped lips having lippy on, but look at the brighter side if you get a chance try this one in the store, must have lipsticks guys I bet other girls will envy you after all “lips don’t lie”. Who needs a retouch-up, matte formulas often comes to the rescue so yeah its quite long lasting.

Mac Relentlessly Red

Now this one I do not wear as frequently as needed because I always get stuck between other reds , pinks and burgundies but this one is another bestseller from Mac. Bold and beautiful bright pinkish coral fuchsia retro matte alluring people to stare at your lips. Yes ! that bright and coral plays its magic giving you a fashionista look all the time(AM/PM). Fair to medium,Brown or dark skin tone can easily pull it off being said the shade will show its true color/hues as it is very pigmented n so rich in color. Recommended to try it in the store to check the vibrancy of it, completely a showstopper. However, Relentlessly red is a warm tone lipstick and the formula is little more drying compare to other retro matte so exfoliating lips prior to application is “must”.

Clinique Even Better Clinical Radical Dark Spot Corrector + Interrupter

I am going to review Clinique’s even better dark spot corrector today. I am sure there are many people out there who really want to buy this one but are not sure about this product if it is really worth the hype or as advertised by the company itself. So not to worry, I am definitely going to take some burden off your shoulders.

Relax, take a deep breath and read!

Even Better Clinical™ Radical Dark Spot Corrector + Interrupter claims on Clinique website that ” It helps visibly correct discoloration and acne scars while interrupting future dark spots by 39% reduction in dark spots and acne scars in 12 weeks”. If you need more information I would suggest please check the company website.

**CLINIQUE** Even Better Clinical™ Radical Dark Spot Corrector + Interrupter

My take on these products. I use it twice a day followed by moisturizer and if I am going out then sunscreen is imperative like it is mentioned on the website. A little over a month ago I started using a dark spot corrector and since then I am observing my skin tone. The change is Positive, rather than saying skin tone I would say the pigmentation and acne scars are getting lighter. Skin looks more awakened, dark spots on my nose are gradually fading. Now can’t comment on “interrupting future dark spots” it’s kind of difficult to keep track of upcoming dark spots. However, I feel it’s working on my skin & taking good care of my old skin issues by providing nourishment it needs. on top of it, it has Salicylic acid which helps to fight against acne, cysts, etc which is super cool!

Let’s talk about the cons. The texture of the serum could have been better, being said that I need at least two and a half pumps of serum to apply and it’s a white gel-based serum. I personally feel the application of the gel is not as smooth as expected and that’s probably because I have been using Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II for so long that accepting a new one seems challenging for me. But I still think that there is a scope of development in the formulation. I hope they will work on it.

There is something more important I want to talk about, just by using a dark spot corrector alone I don’t think I can get that flawless skin but maintaining a regular routine which includes cleansing, Toning & Moisturizing so that skin absorbs the products better, and gives a very miraculous result.

Last but not least if you think you have very sensitive skin then I would recommend you to know the company’s return policy ;). He he he ! don’t mind but my skin is also sensitive to a few products where I see thousands of people reviewed it with 5 stars so yes make sure money does not go to waste.

Finally, so far I am satisfied and a happy customer of Clinique dark spot corrector. Very soon I will be uploading my pictures showing before/after effect so yes I am on it. Before I start would like to share information about my skin tone. I am moderately fair – medium tan falls under Neutral/Warmer category, so for foundation match reference NC42 by MAC, 3W1 Tawny by Estee Lauder & WN46 Golden Neutral by Clinique. I hope these foundation matches will give you an idea about my skin tone.

A very short story behind the picking up Brave Lipstick as I was running out of my favorite MAC MEHR lipstick & desperately wanted a good replacement just for a change. When I visited @Ultabeauty, I had to try a few MAC lipsticks so when I picked up Brave I instantly fell in love. It is such a gorgeous color to try. I am sure it will suit all the skin tones. But for my darker beauties, you might want to try it in the store before you buy. Yesss! There are no golden rules when it comes to choosing/selecting Lipsticks or Makeup products. So yes! It would be totally your choice.

MAC Brave lipstick described as a PINK-BEIGE WITH WHITE PEARL on the MAC website but I don’t know when I wear it I do not see any white pearl finish noticeable on my lips. I mean it gives just the right amount of shine to lips. So smooth and soft to wear what could we wish for more than healthy-looking lips. It is a Muted Pink brown shade and if I try to be very specific it’s browner indoor & pink in the bright lights like in-store lights or daylight. I will recommend this lipstick to all my friends. It is a Satin finish formula and gives a full-color payoff. It is very comfortable on lips, moisturizing, and lasts up to 5-6 hours depends how much you eat or drink so might need a touch-up after that. So let me say goodbye to you now.
