Maybelline Lifter Gloss Lip Gloss – Review

In winter, lips savior is “Lip gloss” if you want that extra shine on your lips on wintery nights. Imagine a night when you are talking to a girl. All we see are glittery lips and breath Vapor. Wow! Just like a romantic movie scene. Right!

But don’t worry. I am not going to tell you any story here. So, let’s jump to our today’s topic, Maybelline lifter Lip gloss Topaz.

I have tried Maybelline’s other range of lip glosses in the past. About 5-6 years ago, I got introduced to Mac Lipsticks. After that, I never looked back. So, reviewing this product is quite exciting.

Meanwhile, if interested, please watch the YouTube short video for Maybelline lip gloss ‘TOPAZ’ @revivelifewithme

What Maybelline claims?

Maybelline describes it as a “Maybelline NY’s Lifter Gloss Bronzed delivers sun-kissed glossy lips and a fuller look. No Filler. Now, in five bronzed shades inspired by golden hour, this lip gloss formula with hyaluronic acid leaves behind lasting hydration and fuller-looking lips”.

Also, they say, Maybelline New York’s Lifter Gloss delivers glossy lips and a full look. Its breakthrough formula with Hyaluronic Acid visibly smooths the lip surface and enhances lip contour with high shine for hydrated, fuller-looking lips. No Filler. Plus, its XL Wand™ transforms lips in an easy, one-swipe application.

What do I think about it?

First, let me tell you that I have chapped lips no matter what I do or try, especially in winter. This situation led me to grab more lip glosses than lipsticks for the last couple of months. Being said that, I am not a big fan of lip glosses as I feel they are sticky and won’t let me drink or eat anything.  The fun part is, when I leave my hair open, they will always target my lips and stick to it 🤣. Does it happen to you as well? Let me know in the comment section below.

So, Maybelline Lifter Gloss Lip Gloss “Topaz” is a light terracotta with gold pearl. But, Of course, anybody can pull it off since we are talking about gloss. The subtle shimmer gives the right amount of shine to the lips. I mean, it is not as glittery as it may look in the tube.

They say it has been formulated with Hyaluronic Acid to achieve visibly smooth lips and provides a significant amount of hydration.

I agree with their claims, but not entirely.  Why am I saying this? Because I tried this gloss on a regular winter day, it lasted for about 1 hr or so. After that, I had to reapply it. Also, it’s not that opaque. People who have pigmented and dry lips (Like mine) might need to apply couple of layers to get the actual color on lips. It has some coconut mixed vanilla fragrance that I don’t mind smelling. I love it.

The competition has become very tough with a rise in the beauty market. However, we may stumble upon a great product under budget, like Maybelline or NYX butter gloss. You never know.

You can try the Maybelline Lifter gloss, and its retail price is $9.99 (USD).

Maybelline lifter Lip gloss is a beautiful gloss but as per my requirements I think I’ll pass on this in the future. Instead, I would love to buy some more NYX butter gloss and save a few bucks.

Let me know your experience in the comment section below. If you would like to suggest any lip gloss to me. I would be more than happy to try it.

Thank you.

MAC BLUSHBABY POWDER BLUSH

MAC BLUSHBABY POWDER BLUSH

This was my first blush from MAC. At that time, I had very little knowledge about how to wear blush, or what color I should pick for a natural look. Those days, I was just getting introduced to makeup and was wearing it occasionally.

MAC Blushbaby blush is a natural finish, sheer coverage powder blush.

The company describes it, as Beige-pink (sheertone) blush that is a super-fine pressed powder that instantly gives cheeks a natural-looking flush. With a natural finish and sheer, buildable coverage, this product is smooth. It spreads evenly and barely clings to the skin.

MAC Blushbaby blush has matte undertones, a muted medium pink color, and relatively warm undertones. It featured a smooth, stiffer, and richer consistency with a semi-translucent, buildable pigmentation that could be created with 2-3 layers.

I reach out to this blush most often and I love how it looks on me. It goes great with a no-makeup look. I believe it would suit fair to medium skin tone very well.

From a price standpoint, we get 6 G / 0.21 US OZ for $28 (USD) which I think is quite too much for the color. Although it is a beautiful everyday blush, I think it’s a very common color and you can find a dupe of it easily at the drugstore price.

So, I would say, don’t grab it online unless you intend to buy it. Visit your nearest MAC store and try a few swatches. If you think, this is going to be a unique shade in your vanity then go ahead. Or else, try to find out dupes of it, and as I’m sure you will get it in NYX, Tarte, etc.

Let me know what do you think about this post and blush.

Thank you.

Sharing Soft matte Smokey Eye-Makeup look

“Smokey eyes” is a gateway to slay the iconic “sultry look” and steal the show. I am obsessed with it. It can be glittery or soft matte. I love to go overboard when using brown or black-brown eye shadows. Giving a Smokey effect needs lot of it. At least that way I can finish warm shades I tend to buy all the time.

Talking about the palette I used in this video is from Smashbox “Ablaze” except the kohl.

I usually get engaged with YouTube shorts. So, this video is just 54 seconds short.

If you like the video, don’t forget to like and subscribe to my channel.

Let me know what do think about it.

Thank you so much.

A great hair tool for all hair types Revlon Salon One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer

Let’s have a big round of applause for Revlon Salon One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer. One of the best-sellers and revolutionary blow dry brush you’ll find in the drugstore aisles. This magical brush will save tons of money on blowout sessions if you are frequently visiting salons just for blowouts. It does work perfectly. Best for all hair types. Especially a great tool to manage coarse, frizzy, and thick hair.

I have been struggling to manage my hair since my college days.  I still remember my frizzy hair was untamable so I never tried anything expensive. That said, I never thought of looking like a Bollywood diva either.  But staring at others’ hair beauty was the only thing I did in college, never gave much importance to how I looked.

Funny thing is, I and my friend used to stop by near a drinking water station whenever possible during breaks and place a hand under the tap water and swipe it across the crown to make stubborn frizzy hair sit tight. Yes! That was a quite silly and momentary solution.

Since I had never seen a tool that is an all-rounder and true to what it says, I was skeptical and was not convinced at first. Even after watching a lot of videos/reviews before buying it. Luckily, I saw a deal on Amazon and bought it at a discounted price. It made me happy to think that even if it does not fulfill my expectations, I won’t feel that bad.

My Personal Experience:

Revlon describes it as a one-step dry and volume styling brush. However, I usually like to use it on dry hair as I feel that way it successfully keeps my hair frizz-free. Otherwise, it’s safe to use on towel-dry hair. I always prefer to use some heat protectant products before styling my hair. Similarly, I don’t feel safe using hot tools on wet/ towel-dry hair unless I am running late for something.

For demonstration purposes, please visit https://youtube.com/shorts/W1TQwHz0otg and you’ll see the end result of the Revlon hair dryer on my coarse and frizzy hair.

The brush is beautifully designed to style every type of hair. A combination of dense bristles and a hot metal wand actually provide a great hold of hair and give an impeccable blowout.

One thing is to consider its weight. First-time users might find it a bit heavy and intimidating to handle and style the hair. But once you get used to it, you will love it every day. For me, it took almost a month to get used to it.

As the name implies, Revlon Salon One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer is a quick way to fix hair unless you really want a professional touch for special events. I have been using the Revlon brush for over a year and it’s still working great.

But don’t forget to comb your hair before styling it as it may increase hair fall or can get tangled up in the brush. Also, do not forget to use a heat protectant as this brush gets really very HOT.

Last but not least, if you don’t have time to style your hair. Instead of using a blow dryer, grab a Revlon brush and just run it through your hair. Voila! You will see almost frizz-free and manageable dry hair in no time.

Final thoughts:

I would request you to watch the video and see how thick, dry, and frizzy hair I have. Revlon Salon One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer is my savior. I would definitely recommend it to my friends. It is one of the best drugstore styling tools available at a reasonable price. It’s indeed a time and money saver for unmanageable and frizzy hair. Please do not forget to use a good heat protectant before using any styling products. This product does what it claims except I think it gives salon-like blowout results on dry hair than using it on towel-dry hair.

So give it a try!

Let me know your experiences if you are already using it.

Thank you.

A unique relationship between woman & Kajal (Kohl)

“Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder”.

It is so true. Being an Indian, I am sure many of you will feel connected to the post.

I believe the prowess of harnessing the beauty of the black Kajal (Kohl) and adding it to the eyes imparts a transcendent power. Every person is unique, and so are their eyes. I think it empowers every spirit and lifts it to never give up on dreams. Perhaps its mystical presence gives the strength to steal the show and stand out in the crowd. Or perhaps its presence is enough to tell you to get up and brace yourself for a new day.

When I was a teenager, I remember my elder sisters used to keep one small pouch handy all the time. They would put a few makeup products like Kajal, Lipstick, and eyeliner. All the items mentioned were limited to a limited quantity, to be more precise limited to a single number. It was about sharing it until used up entirely, and those are delightful memories to treasure.

Seeing all my sisters and cousins using Kajal (Kohl) more frequently than lipstick or other beauty picks was very usual for me. Acknowledging that it is the only weapon to look beautiful was quite convincing in those days.

It was a pretty common trend and trick to look beautiful for all girls back then and that trend is still on among the young crowd. As I grew up, I could understand the power of the dark Kajal eyes and the paradigm to look irresistible. So, I felt writing down why we all still fall for it that is simply irreplaceable.

Those were the days when we had no idea what makeup meant, or even when looking at the “Bollywood celebrities” we could all see was Kajal, eyeliner, and lipstick.

As I said earlier when I was a teen and was getting to know how to look more (and more) beautiful every passing year.  All I was doing was learning how to apply a Kajal more efficiently and correctly than giving importance to my career goal. Silly me!

Even today, I wonder why we still get drawn toward it. I would love to share my experience when I was working in Mumbai (Mumbai) from 2009-to 2012. A long story, but I will make it short. When I left Mumbai and shifted to Pune in 2013, one of my friends called and told me that a Tailor where I used to get my Salwar suits stitched in Mumbai was talking about me. Nope! he did not recall my name or remember any of my facial features except he vividly remembered that “Madam with very dark (Kajal) eyes”. Ha. Ha. Ha! That was it. We cracked up and could not stop. And then I realized how insanely I was using it and now wondering if it was good or bad, but eventually amazing to know that people still remember me by my bold eyes. It’s a great feeling.

Also, when I was in Living in Mumbai, the moment I realized I am getting late for the office.  It was natural for me to fill my eyes with dark back kajal and then run to catch a local train. Hardly gave any importance to my hairdo or other facial beautification. Probably, it was the only thing that kept my confidence alive and made me the most beautiful girl in the world. Ha..ha!!!!.. Please don’t take it seriously. That I said in jest.

In India, people still love it, and I think that’s the only tool that wraps up the look before stepping out of the house. So why girls cannot live without it? Why Kajal is so important & an integral part of our lives? What could be the reason for its popularity that started centuries ago in India?

Indian history is quite intriguing, reading about Raja, Maharajas (King), and emperors who ruled India before British rule and has charming tales of their  Maharani’s (Queen) & Princes’ beauty secrets and alluring personalities. Striking poses of Queens wearing Jewelry and eminent eyes were enough to illustrate their royal attitude. Surprisingly, many of them can be seen wearing kajal. And I believe they commenced the project of “bold eyes” that got famous among other women. Later, probably that craze spread across the nation, and people started giving so much importance and got smitten by the deep mesmerizing eyes outlined by black Kajal. More importantly, they knew the homemade recipe of it. Interesting fact, right!

I bet, still, people cannot get enough of it and just cannot let that magical wand disappear from their vanity. The moment they realize they are running out of it, there always be a backup plan borrowing from a friend or cousin until they figure out when they can buy it. At least I was one of them.

This peculiar fashion where the eyes tell the story first portrays the unique bond between the eye and its magical relation with Kajal.

Feels great to write down our distinctive style of adopting elements of beauty that interprets our unity and strength. That’s amazing!

Share your thoughts and tell me if you are one of those who love it as much as I do.

Thank you!

How blogging helped me to pass my English proficiency exam

Initially, when I started writing blogs, I did not know what I am doing or did not have any idea how writing anything (any content) would help me to accomplish a few things in life. I still write because I love to write, it helps me to focus on certain things that establish consonance between my mind and my thoughts.

Being said that, I am not over the moon but still, this blogging journey, especially writing has brought out some significant changes in me. Something has really helped me to realize that this is the right time to pursue some online certification courses (Short-term). But before that, I did not know I will have to appear for an English proficiency exam.

Now at this point, somewhere deep down I really wanted to quit the idea of getting into academic commitments, even if it was a short-term (6 months) course. As I was so insecure about my academic performance. I knew that, once I get a bad score in the entry-level English proficiency exam, I won’t be able to rise again.

My educational background

Here, I would like to go back and talk about my school days. I did not get a chance to join any convent school where students could speak relatively fluent English language or might have been able to write a good English article/Essay from an early age back then. I was a student where my native language was a primary subject followed by foreign language English. Since spoken English has become an integral part of Indian society, it was mandatory to crack the English examination for better prospects. So here I can say, I knew the grammar part very well as it was the only thing that mattered those days in the examination instead of how to use it in daily life. After that, I did my diploma in Electronics and Telecommunication. That was technical education with very little exposure to promoting language skills.

Therefore, looking at my educational background “English” was not an Alien language for me but understanding the phrases of the “Oxford” English exam was a bit challenging and tricky.

As a result, my own insecurities were dragging me down into some unknown abyss where I could see myself sitting in Pajama and chilling out with no future plans. Believe me, the pressure was immense because this was happening after 17 years. Yes! I was preparing to appear for an examination after 17 years (Yes! That was a long time).

How Blogging helped me to pass the examination.

One thing everyone will agree is that writing is like a meditation. When you write, you train your mind to concentrate on a specific area (Topic) for a certain period. Believe me, this practice has bestowed a cosmic effect on me.

After enrollment, being a citizen of a non-English speaking country, I got automatically registered for an English course. It continued for 8 weeks and then proctored exam.

As it was an online platform, they did not have an online classes facility. It was a purely web-based platform, all about self-study, self-evaluation, and improving performance using our conscience, except the grading part.

Now everything was new for me including how to write a “Thesis & Abstract”. I wish could write an entire experience about my 8 weeks journey.

Anyways, I started my blogging journey in 2020, April. In the beginning, I knew about my writing hobby that I happened to realize in recent years and this was the perfect platform for me to express my mind. Since I did not know what to write, I started writing reviews. As I have mentioned earlier, writing is like a meditation, we train our mind to stay focused on one thing at a time.

Likewise, when I was writing assignments, I could see that blogging is helping me to think actively on certain topics of the assignment. I still don’t believe that it has increased my thinking capacity.

For Example, reading the stories of Anton Chekhov or Sherman Alexie and summarizing them in just 4-5 sentences. Now I knew that instructor is going to check and analyze students’ level of framing the story in brief. This task used to give me goosebumps. Usually, before making a final draft, we make changes and trim down the superfluous information into meaningful content. Subsequently, I could use the same logic while writing for assignments but still could end up writing a 6-7 sentence summary of the story. Not that bad, right!

Not just I’m getting better at expressing myself via blogging, but somehow it’s mending my persona to become a reader as well. Nowadays, my eyes usually get hooked on good articles. My hunger to gain advanced vocabulary is becoming insatiable. And so all credit goes to “Blogging”.

And therefore, I can say that this habit of writing is somehow transitioning my brain into someone who always thinks before writing or speaking. It works like medicine for my wandering thoughts. It might not be as a professional blogger, but deep down I know that now I can sum up my thoughts way better than what I used to do before starting to write “Blogs”.

In my opinion, every individual should start to write their feelings, at least once in a blue moon if not regular. Why I am saying this? Because I was the person who never tried to pen down my thoughts and never felt the necessity of writing on a piece of paper except in exams. And I strongly feel that writing words really gives meaning to your thoughts, so your personality. It could be in any language, not necessarily “English”.

So anyway, this was the blogging experience that has turned out to be an English auxiliary guide and is indeed reforming my life.

Thank you.

Best Concealer for Indian skin “Tarte shape tape concealer”

Today, I am going to review the most popular concealer that is approved by many bloggers and vloggers. People vouch for its incredible performance. It’s a Tarte Shape tape concealer.

Let’s see what I think about it.

I have been using Tarte shape tape concealer for over 2 years now. I must say, I never felt like switching it to another brand.

In this post, I have especially emphasized Indian skin tone because I know the weather in India is very unpredictable and at times it becomes very risky to wear makeup while commuting by public transportation during sunny or Hot/humid days. So girls I understand your pain. That’s the reason I thought of dedicating this post to all my Indian friends.

So my skin tone is Medium-Tan, foundation shade in MAC NC 35/NC37, Estee Lauder is Tawny, just for your reference. Tarte shape tape in the shade 36S Medium-Tan sand works like a magic for me. I just love the result when I look into the mirror at the end of the day.

Let’s talk about the formula.

Tarte’s shape tape concealer is the most sought-after concealer in the United States. But region-wise every product has some pros and cons. Speaking about India, most people prefer to commute by public transportation (Viz. by Bus or Train) and the situation could get worst in Summer. So ladies, let’s see what I have for you in this post.

Tarte claims :

  • full-coverage formula with natural matte finish – Yes! That’s right.
  • smooths & brightens to make eyes appear lifted – Yes, but I have noticed the product has a tendancy to settle into fine lines & crease so setting it with powder perfectly is important.
  • crease-proof formula won’t cake or settle with 16 hrs of flawless wear – Can’t say 16 hrs but I have tested it for 6-7 hrs and it stays put.
  • tape technology™ helps smooth & blur appearance of fine lines & wrinkles – Not sure what is Tape technology but yes it certainly helps smooth & lifts the under eye area and thats what a concealer is supposed to do .
  • applies easily with jumbo speed smoother™ – True but I feel the smaller domed end of the sponge would have been great like maybelline Fit me to apply easily.
  • ideal for normal, combination & oily skin – Yes! I would say it is true.

Yeah, it is full coverage formula with a natural matte finish. I have tried best seller Maybelline Fit me concealer as well. But somehow it did not work out for me. When I tried Tarte Shape Tape concealer in the Ulta, I just fell in love with it. After a long time, something had worked on me like magic, especially concealer with exact shade.

As mentioned earlier, I use 36S Medium-Tan sand and I don’t think I am going to change it anytime soon. Winter or Summer, I can use it all year round.

The formula is great and blendable, and most importantly it is super easy to apply for even a newbie. I personally feel that the smaller tip of the sponge applicator could have been a great choice to pick less product. Having said that, you can always prefer to use the desired amount of product if applied carefully. For me, less is more.

I mean, initially, when I started to use concealer, I knew the perfect blending is the key to achieving flawless under eyes. On top of that my low confidence was keeping me away from using such concealer ($30 USD), as I knew that I am not confident enough and did not want to waste my money.

But honestly, Tarte shape tape changed the game. It works best with its best buddy “beauty blender” and I can say it will suit any skin type if you find your perfect shade. Like mine, I have combination skin and so far my eyes are loving it more than me. Anyways, I have tested it in hot summers and it stays put for around 6-7 hrs. But make sure you set it properly with a setting powder. Sometimes your eyes might need a touch-up to avoid settling it in the creases or fine lines, especially in the hot scorching sun.

An easy-peasy formula can be directly applied to the area that has discoloration, pigmentation, dark spots, and of course dark circles.

I have incorporated pictures of hand swatches in this post to understand the color of the shade I am using. I hope it would be helpful to you to understand the color if you are trying to pick one.

So, I personally feel this concealer would be a great choice for my Indian friends, who are really looking for a go-to concealer with fewer efforts. Believe me, this will save you tons of time if paired with the right setting powder. And yes, I would recommend it to my friends & family.

That’s all for now. I will be back with another review.

Namaste!

Night of “jack-o’-lanterns”& spooky tales, “Happy Halloween”!

Photo by Toni Cuenca from Pexels

I hope you all have already decided how to celebrate Halloween. For me, it is more about making my daughter happy and letting her know that it’s her day to enjoy face make-up and not to continue it until Christmas. Hahaha!! She loves it and my lipsticks too. Anyways, I bought myself “vampire’s teeth” so that I can flaunt in Red lipstick. Besides, it was the only choice left for me as becoming a vampire is all about showing off some fake “Teeth” and exaggerated blood-sucking expressions like “vampire Diaries” Bingo!

So, my friends, wishing you the best Halloween ever. I hope you get to spend a great time with your loved ones & get a spooky night. After all, it’s Halloween!

Enjoy this celebration with good laughs. Bring some of your childhood memories back, play tricks-treats and relish your day with lots of candies.

Wish you the spookiest Halloween ever!

Thank you!

#3 Best seller “Always on liquid lipstick” from Smashbox !

I always get very excited when I know my next post is going to be the topic I really love from the bottom of my heart is Lipsticks. So without further ado let’s jump into it.

Smashbox’s ‘Always On Liquid Lipstick’ Bawse, Out Loud & Baja Bound

A liquid matte lipstick infused with primer oil complex. A non-drying formula that is so opaque and insanely pigmented. A matte finish which so comfortable on lips and waterproof. On top of it, it has a list of huge fan followers. It is a “Cruelty-free” brand. The price is $24 (USD).

What I really think about these liquid lipsticks.

Bawse – It is a beautiful, gorgeous, and “must-have” deep red! Be ready for that ‘red carpet’ look…Yes! I must say, after trying Bawse my obsession for ‘Mac ruby woo’ has lessened for some reason. I would suggest people who are into Reds and haven’t tried this one…please go and grab ‘BAWSE’! It will never disappoint you. Such a universally flattering red shade and will suit all skin tones.

Basically, When I tried to compare it with Mac ‘ruby woo’, I could see that ‘Bawse’ is the winner! Although Smashbox is pricey and has earned its perks by offering an excellent color pay off. One swipe is fully packed with intense color, so lightweight and flawless.

OUT LOUD – A deep orange shade and I never ever thought that this shade would be the best discovery of my life ……. I don’t know why it took me so long to get my hands on this liquid lipstick. Omg! when I first tried it on my lips I was like…Huhh! where was I this whole time before the pandemic…And now since I have found this gorgeous shade…I have to wear a mask every time I step outside the house. However, I am happy that finally I got into orange and not just limited to pink, coral, fuscia ‘n’ reds etc,.

Such a pretty burnt orange so opaque and lightweight with the beautiful color pay off. This shade is for all my beauties who are thinking to invest in some different shades. It is definitely going to suit you irrespective of different skin tones. Again this is a matte formula but not over-drying.

BAJA BOUND – A pink coral shade that is bright yet gives a very soft look. Recently I have updated my profile picture on WordPress there I am wearing this shade. As per my opinion, it’s not that unique shade and I am definitely not going to recommend it unless you want to spend $24(USD) on it. Being said that, NYX soft matte liquid lipsticks have a wide array of color collections and one particular shade “Antwerp” is similar (but not same) to this shade. Luckily, I have been using it for years so I know it is irreplaceable.

Anyway, Let’s come back to Baja Bound. Again, it is the same lightweight matte formula. Super opaque with excellent color pay off. But guys, I think this shade will look beautiful on light to medium skin tone and my beauties between tan to deeper skin tone, it may wash you out. But as I always say that there are no strict rules for wearing make so suit yourself and feel free to try it.

My final thoughts !

The formula is quite thick & matte once dry so dry/chapped lips beware!. Please exfoliate and prep-prime before application or else, it may settle into fine lines and end up looking like “Zombie’s lips”..ha ha ha !!!

These liquid lipsticks are best if planning to wear often (but not occasionally) in order to utilize the product as much as possible. Else it might end up getting dry or cloggy in a container and then you won’t be able to use it anymore. The game is over!

Seems, these are long-lasting, waterproof, and stays put for pretty much considerable time but not sure if it will survive throughout the day. A quick touch up might be needed.

My most recommendable color is ‘BAWSE’.

Pigmented lips like mine. These lippies are boon for us! Grab any color you like!

So yes! I would recommend it to my friend and family to buy specific/selected shades!

Please share your thoughts n comments and let me know if you like matte liquid lipsticks too!

Thank you and Namaste !
