MAC mineralize skin finish highlighter ‘Soft & Gentle’ is the most sought-after highlighter among beauty gurus, influencers, and make-up artists. There are other high-end brands that offer equally high quality and performance highlighters. So why is only MAC soft & Gentle still making rounds in the beauty realm?
Mac describes it as a luxurious powder that illuminates the face and body and contains M.A.C. Multi-Mineral Complex.
Further, the brand describes it as sheer coverage, a luminous finish highlighting powder. An opulent, slowly baked, velvety soft, dome-shaped face powder with a dewy sheen. Blend all over for a sheer luminous finish to the skin, or precisely buff on to add highlights to the high points of the face. features vitamin E and our M.A.C. Multi-Mineral Complex.
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish ‘Soft & Gentle’ is a multitasking natural highlighter that gives a subtle glow. It has just the right amount of shimmer that gives a sublime natural inner glow. I believe MAC mineralize skin finish highlighter ‘Soft & Gentle’ is best suitable for Indian skin tone. This is the universally flattering highlighter or can say a blush topper that goes easy on cheeks without making a disco ball face unless you want to have one.
Speaking of price, it retails for $40 and contains 10gm (0.35 us oz.). It’s expensive but worth a try. Usually, I stock up on all these products during black Friday or Christmas sales. It saves huge money. I wish MAC could come up with some affordable travel size kit that includes such best-selling products.
I wanted to show you how it reflects on the face, as you can see below in the picture. I have used it on my cheekbones and applied it very light-handed but still, it’s glowing. I like it.
My, Final thought
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Soft & Gentle is a beautiful highlighter that gives the most natural look. I highly recommend it to all skin tones except deeper skin tone beauties. I would say, try before you buy.
Last but not least, my Indian girlfriends, please try this highlighter in your nearest store. I am sure you will fall in love with it. It is indeed a universally flattering highlighter.
I would definitely recommend it to my friends and family.
Also, please let me know if you know a dupe of it. I would like to try it and see a difference.
So, here I am again with a short review. Today I am going to show you that Mac Lipstick ‘Twig’ and Maybelline ‘Touch of spice’ are exact match.
Many influencer vloggers and beauty channels say these two are exact matches (Dupe). Honestly, whenever I try to find a ‘Dupe’ I buy a different lipstick even though it looks the same under store lights. But when you come out of it, the hue changes, and I end up getting a different color of lipstick.
But when I try MAC ‘TWIG’ and Maybelline ‘Touch of spice’. Voila! It’s the exact match.
In the short video below, you will notice, that these two shades are identical and interchangeable, especially, if you love mattes over satin lipsticks.
MAC TWIG is a satin lipstick and Maybelline Touch of spice is a matte lipstick.
“Smokey eyes” is a gateway to slay the iconic “sultry look” and steal the show. I am obsessed with it. It can be glittery or soft matte. I love to go overboard when using brown or black-brown eye shadows. Giving a Smokey effect needs lot of it. At least that way I can finish warm shades I tend to buy all the time.
Talking about the palette I used in this video is from Smashbox “Ablaze” except the kohl.
I usually get engaged with YouTube shorts. So, this video is just 54 seconds short.
If you like the video, don’t forget to like and subscribe to my channel.
I was happy when I ordered Tarte custom magnetic palette so that I can transfer some of the MAC’s refill pans and blushes to it. Before that, I owned just a MAC Pro Palette Compact that beautifully accommodates their single eye shadow and blush refill pan inserts with no issues.
But the space in the palette was so occupied that some of my eye-shadow pans literally bend from the side due to inconsistent placement of blush and eye shadow pans together including one or two from other brands. I could see that the poor thing was already exhausted and was overcrowded.
Initially, I intended to buy one more MAC Pro Palette Compact as I was happy with the quality and it was surely a place for all. But I saw Tarte’s magnetic palette on sale and I instantly added it to the cart and placed the order.
I never gave so much importance to other details and hence never thought about how a Tarte’s magnetic palette will work for refill pans that have already Magnet attached at the bottom of it.
You see, MAC refill pans are made of steel and so they provide a tiny magnet glued to them. That’s the reason it can easily accommodate their inserts in their company-made customizable palettes. Now here is the catch, those are surely no magnetic pallets but just cases made up of metal surfaces to attract and embrace the attached magnet of the refill pans.
Now, Tarte magnetic palette is indeed a “Magnetic Palette” that holds the metal pans beautifully. As I can say, the refill pan from ABH (Anastasia Beverly Hills) is made with metal and stuck to a palette as if they are made for each other. On the contrary, MAC inserts fell apart and so did not make any sense to even try to fit those into it.
I did not play with Mac inserts or tried to detach the piece of magnet of it. As it was mere waste of time that could have caused damage to those tiny pans.
If the refill pan inserts are glued to the tiny piece of a magnet then make sure you simply buy a customizable palette that is non-magnetic (has metal surface). As we all know “The opposite poles of two magnets will attract one another when they are brought together, but the same poles will repel one another”. Now, who knows which is the North or South pole of the magnet when we buy such items.
So, finally, I would like to conclude my post here.
As mentioned earlier, make sure you check what kind of refill pans you have and accordingly buy the one which is suitable.
If you have MAC refill pans then it would be recommendable to buy their pro refill palettes only.
If you have pans that have no attached piece of a magnet at the bottom of them then probably Tarte’s palettes would be suitable for them.
I wish I had known this before. Perhaps I missed the point and could not understand the technicality of it. Anyway, guys, I am glad Tarte’s custom magnetic palette open my eyes and made me think over some basic points before buying any random custom palettes.
I hope you find this post helpful and understand why Tarte’s magnetic palette is not useful for Mac pro-refill pans? Or for any of their Inserts.
This was my experience.
Let me know in the comment below if you think this is a helpful post.
Buying make-up products can sometimes become brain work. Especially, choosing high-end products. Now, expecting satisfying results from such costly products seems viable. But sometimes, it does not go well with our profound feelings.
Choosing make-up products depends upon our analysis of various shades, colors, and formulas. Being said that, examining our skin type & textures is equally important too. As we all are aware that textured skin might look like a disco ball after wearing shimmery products. Similarly, sometimes using shimmery bronzer can make us look terrible and unpleasant.
What do you think? This Too Faced bronzer is worth the hype? Is it really suitable for all skin types and colors? Does it really a natural looking bronzer?
So, Let’s see. I, hope this post will give you a closer look and the performance of the Too Faced Sun Bunny Natural Bronzer that can help you to decide if you should add it to the cart before you hit the “place order” button.
My skin is acne-prone and getting a lot of skin issues even if I switched to any make-up product. Thankfully, this bronzer did not cause any breakouts. So, rest assured. My skin tone is medium-Tan and some nasty acne has left large pores as well. I have a normal/combination skin type. During summer as usual it gets more oily (T-zone) and use matte-setting spray in intervals during daytime outings.
Too Faced Sun Bunny Natural Bronzer, gives a subtle shimmery bronze look. Since it is not a matte bronzer, the formula is beautiful enough to get the summary tan bronzy cheekbones.
If interested you can also check other blog posts.
With this dual-shade bronzer, which has a little pink undertone to replicate the flush of a true tan, you may achieve a natural glow.
The Too Faced company claims that it creates a luminous, sun-kissed finish and dual shades are buildable for a customized glow.
The formula is quite pigmented and buildable. It’s indeed beautiful, soft, and apply effortlessly. Dual shade is definitely a game-changer thing that gives a hue of natural glow. The bronzer blends perfectly and gives a gorgeous glowing effect.
What do I think about it?
For me, it has been a neutral experience. I mean, as I have mentioned earlier, I have been facing acne issues for the last 2 years. It has made my face a little bit textured. Having said that, textures are consistent not very prominent. But still, I try to stay away from shimmery formulas be it bronzer or luminous/dewy finish foundations.
I could see Too Faced Sun Bunny Natural Bronzer was in the beauty influencers’ goods books. So, I had to try it. It has indeed lived up to my expectations. It is beautiful and suits my skin tone well. A single light-handed application of dual shade will give a natural flush of rosy tan. A darker shade can be used to contour the face as the lighter shade can be used as a nude blush for a no-makeup look.
As we all know often bronzers end up looking like an orange fruit if not meant for a particular skin tone. On the contrary, this bronzer has the right amount of orange hue that offers a flawless bronzy look.
I used it all year round. I don’t see a reason to not use it in winter. However, I also love to use my other matte bronzers interchangeably.
This is the only gleamy bronzer I owned. Glad that it turned out to be a great bronzer. So, for me, it was worth spending $34. But there will be always a black Friday sale that can save your pocket from getting empty.
Yes! I will recommend this bronzer to fair, medium, and tan skin tones and Yay! However, I would recommend my beauties with deeper skin tones to first try it and see if the gleaming look is favorable or desirable as per your expectations.
P.S. I would love to try their other matte bronzers so that I can compare the formula and final look. At this moment I compared it with other matte bronzer I owned from “Hard Candy” a drugstore brand and Estée Lauder.
Let me know which one is your favorite bronzer so far and hooked to it for years.
If you have been reading my posts, you all know how much I love to review lipsticks. So here I am with yet another lipstick post to share swatches and much more.
I am eagerly waiting to say “bye-bye Covid-19 & its non-stop variants”. I mean seriously, girls like us who are desperate to flaunt newly painted lips, have to hide joy under the mask with a heavy heart. But, what I have learned these days, inner happiness is the best remedy for all worries. So no worries. And I give a big smile and cheer up myself.
Now let’s continue and dive into it.
MAC describes it as an “Intense orange-brown (Matte)”. It is a matte lipstick that has no shine (not ultra-matte). The shade shown in the swatches might not be the same as it looks in real. I tried to capture the real color of the bullet but daylight did not let me do that. However, hope you will get an idea from lips and hand swatches.
So “MAC Marrakesh” is a pretty matte shade and opaque, and one swipe delivers a punch of color with a smooth application. I prefer to use a straight lipstick bullet for application instead of using a brush and that saves my ton of time.
This lipstick has an excellent color payoff. Having pigmented lips like mine, MAC Marrakesh is the very right choice for us. You can wear it anytime, this gorgeous color will always balance your look beautifully.
Even though it’s a matte lipstick, it is a non-drying formula. Being said that, the formula is neutral. Neither drying nor hydrating. Therefore, I will recommend softening lips with Lip balm or anything of your choice before applying the lipstick. If wearing throughout the day, a touch-up might be needed.
Mac Cosmetics always comes up with innovative lipstick formulas and this one is definitely the lipstick that can never go out of fashion.
Last but not least, special message to my Indian friends. This would be the most beautiful lipstick in your vanity and I am sure you would grab it more frequently before leaving the house.
MAC Marrakesh lipstick’s retail price is $19 (USD) 3G / 0.1 US OZ.
This time I did something very different eye-makeup. I know this would not be new for many of you but for me. I have always loved warm or brown eyes n still like it as it is a great choice for everyday look.
Keeping my ideal preferences aside I thought I should try something distinctive look. Let me know what do you think about it.
Please forgive me if my brows or any other make-up application is not up to the point as I am still learning it. However, I would like to mention products I have used just in case if you might find it helpful.
Today I am going to review liquid foundation By Bobbi Brown. I usually prefer compact powder foundation over liquid but this time I really wanted to try liquid foundation.
In the picture below, you will see Bobbi Brown stick foundation next to a liquid one. I did not intend to order both but it kind of happened that I ended up having them in my makeup kit. So there is a short story behind it and if you wanna know then skip the review and scroll down till the end.
I am going to present my thoughts on liquid foundation and the stick is just for color comparison purposes.
Bobbi Brown Skin long-wear weightless Foundation SPF 15
Before I start I would like to mention my skin type. I have a combination skin with T-zone oily occasionally.
“16-hour, medium coverage matte formula” – I really can’t comment on this as at the max I wear foundation for 8-9 hrs or less. So as far as I know it, it won’t budge even in the hot sunny summer of Texas.
The best thing is, It has SPF 15 in it. Little extra protection from the UV rays.
They say it is “Sweat-resistant” but my nose and chin get sweaty in summer all the time so I will rule out this claim as “Sweat-resistant”. In winters, it might be true😉.
When I got this foundation home my face was actually breaking out very badly. I could see so many dark acne marks on my face. Then I saw so many people rave about this foundation and I made up my mind to splurge on it. I am very pleased with my decision. So YES!!! It does not cause acne. It’s my personal experience telling you.
Besides, I like this liquid foundation has about the right amount of consistency, not thick but not runny as well. I am not a fan of it. Apart from its consistency it gives a very natural finish and is definitely buildable.
But there is one drawback (In my opinion), you will have to try to work on your face as soon as possible because it dries fast. And if you try to dab more liquid onto it. Your make-up brush will not forgive you as it sets very quickly as it’s a matte foundation.
It is not a Fragrance-Free foundation. For me, I don’t mind it because the smell is not long-lasting and fades away even before you realized it.
Coverage is buildable and pretty much good with concealing any pigmentation, acne scars, or uneven skin tone. Being said that, you might want to keep a good corrector handy to hide any prominent acne scars or spots to get that flawless look.
As far as Oxidation is concerned. I have noticed that it has an oxidizing tendency. Now I really don’t know if it is the primer I use make it to react when I go out. But Yes! I have experienced it.
Even though it is a non-cakey foundation, I have noticed little dry patches on the skin if I hold the mirror closely. And Yes! I apply moisturizer generously day and night. so dryness is definitely not an issue here.
Yes! It is pricey $50 USD. So if you are happy with your drugstore foundation then I would say buy it during the “Black Friday/Christmas” sale or just skip it 😀 until you are ready for “Hit or Miss” trials.
Short story behind a stick foundation.
Choosing a shade online might be a tricky task or sometimes deceiving checking it on online models. When you try to chat with BB online and if it’s your lucky day you will get the right shade or else 😅 there would be trust issues. I hope you get my point.
Sharing My online chat experience with BB.
BB online Rep. assisted me and suggested Warm Natural 4.5. I contacted them 5 times but out of which 2 said Warm natural and others were telling whatever they want 😂😂😂😂. So finally I chose it and ordered it. And then again I talked to them just to tell them that I need one shade lighter foundation(I think warm natural is a bit more yellow for me) and what I got to hear is that “Natural Tan” is the right shade 🤯 for me. Dang, it !!!
Luckily at the same time, I asked her if the same shade goes for stick foundation and Rep. said “Yes!”.
And Finally, I got my money back Yay!! so no worries.
Then I happened to visit a cosmetic company store during my trip to Indianapolis. There I saw this BB stick on 40% off sale. I could not resist and ended up buying this stick foundation in shade “Natural Tan”. So this color is actually a great match for me but I wish it was a liquid one as stick foundation has actually a very poor coverage.
Stick might be a great choice who have fewer skin issues viz light pigmentation or spots.
My Final Thoughts
I would say this is a good foundation but not very best for the $50 USD if I compare it with Estee Lauder Double wear liquid foundation. However, BB liquid weightless foundation has a “Pump” to dispense the desired amount of product which is so handy even if you are in a hurry it makes application job so easy.
BB liquid skin long-wear weightless foundation is far better than BB stick foundation. As liquid foundation really has a nice finish and looks so natural than stick foundation.
Recently I visited the Ulta store, there while talking to one of the associates I came to know that “Oxidation” is a common issue with BB liquid foundation. Just for FYI.
So what do you think about BB foundations? If you have any tricks or suggestions to avoid oxidation then please let me know.
Rating: 4 out of 5.
Taking one start off due to oxidation issue and price. Otherwise, it is a good foundation and a pretty much better choice for acne-prone skin.
I always get very excited when I know my next post is going to be the topic I really love from the bottom of my heart is Lipsticks. So without further ado let’s jump into it.
Smashbox’s ‘Always On Liquid Lipstick’ Bawse, Out Loud & Baja Bound
A liquid matte lipstick infused with primer oil complex. A non-drying formula that is so opaque and insanely pigmented. A matte finish which so comfortable on lips and waterproof. On top of it, it has a list of huge fan followers. It is a “Cruelty-free” brand. The price is $24 (USD).
What I really think about these liquid lipsticks.
Bawse – It is a beautiful, gorgeous, and “must-have” deep red! Be ready for that ‘red carpet’ look…Yes! I must say, after trying Bawse my obsession for ‘Mac ruby woo’ has lessened for some reason. I would suggest people who are into Reds and haven’t tried this one…please go and grab ‘BAWSE’! It will never disappoint you. Such a universally flattering red shade and will suit all skin tones.
Basically, When I tried to compare it with Mac ‘ruby woo’, I could see that ‘Bawse’ is the winner! Although Smashbox is pricey and has earned its perks by offering an excellent color pay off. One swipe is fully packed with intense color, so lightweight and flawless.
OUT LOUD – A deep orange shade and I never ever thought that this shade would be the best discovery of my life ……. I don’t know why it took me so long to get my hands on this liquid lipstick. Omg! when I first tried it on my lips I was like…Huhh! where was I this whole time before the pandemic…And now since I have found this gorgeous shade…I have to wear a mask every time I step outside the house. However, I am happy that finally I got into orange and not just limited to pink, coral, fuscia ‘n’ reds etc,.
Such a pretty burnt orange so opaque and lightweight with the beautiful color pay off. This shade is for all my beauties who are thinking to invest in some different shades. It is definitely going to suit you irrespective of different skin tones. Again this is a matte formula but not over-drying.
BAJA BOUND – A pink coral shade that is bright yet gives a very soft look. Recently I have updated my profile picture on WordPress there I am wearing this shade. As per my opinion, it’s not that unique shade and I am definitely not going to recommend it unless you want to spend $24(USD) on it. Being said that, NYX soft matte liquid lipsticks have a wide array of color collections and one particular shade “Antwerp” is similar (but not same) to this shade. Luckily, I have been using it for years so I know it is irreplaceable.
Anyway, Let’s come back to Baja Bound. Again, it is the same lightweight matte formula. Super opaque with excellent color pay off. But guys, I think this shade will look beautiful on light to medium skin tone and my beauties between tan to deeper skin tone, it may wash you out. But as I always say that there are no strict rules for wearing make so suit yourself and feel free to try it.
My final thoughts !
The formula is quite thick & matte once dry so dry/chapped lips beware!. Please exfoliate and prep-prime before application or else, it may settle into fine lines and end up looking like “Zombie’s lips”..ha ha ha !!!
These liquid lipsticks are best if planning to wear often (but not occasionally) in order to utilize the product as much as possible. Else it might end up getting dry or cloggy in a container and then you won’t be able to use it anymore. The game is over!
Seems, these are long-lasting, waterproof, and stays put for pretty much considerable time but not sure if it will survive throughout the day. A quick touch up might be needed.
My most recommendable color is ‘BAWSE’.
Pigmented lips like mine. These lippies are boon for us! Grab any color you like!
So yes! I would recommend it to my friend and family to buy specific/selected shades!
Please share your thoughts n comments and let me know if you like matte liquid lipsticks too!
