MAC Lipstick Russian Red for every skin tone

Mac is a well-known brand for creating versatile shades for every skin tone. Mac has created a retro matte Ruby Woo a unique red shade that created quite a stir in the fashion industry. Now, talking about the Mac Russian red which is another iconic creation from MAC has a distinct level of comfortless.

MAC Russian Red is a matte lipstick, which is surprisingly creamy matte. It glides on smoothly, with no harsh lines on the lips. Mac describes Russian Red as an Intense bluish-red. The biggest perk, it suits all skin tones.

Nowadays, I grab Mac Russian lipstick more often than ruby woo. The downside of retro matte lipstick is a true matte formula that provides very little hydration compared to regular matte lipsticks like MAC Russian Red. Its formula is par excellence.

Mac Russian Red lipstick is very opaque and gives an excellent color payoff, and for that, you just need to make sure your lips are not too chapped. Otherwise, you are in safe hands. As soon as you put it on your lips, it transfers a beautiful red with the right amount of moisturizer, and that makes it a winner.

You can see below in the picture I am flaunting my red lips.

I like how this shade brings out the balance in the look, even if I am wearing it with no heavy makeup. It suits my skin tone more than other red lipsticks. In my opinion, this is a long-lasting formula and keeps color intact for a few hours (5-6 hours). No frequent touch-up is needed. But being said that, it is not transfer proof and you need to seal it perhaps with tissue paper just to secure it.

This is the most beautiful Red lipstick from Mac, and I would recommend it to all my friends. Especially my Indian friends, who usually struggle to find the perfect Red to complement their warm skin tones.

MAC Russian Red lipstick is not a new bee in the town but still, I wanted to review it as every opinion counts. Also, it helps to understand the appearance of the red shades and hues on different skin tones.

This time, I wanted to skip the names of those lipsticks which are already on top of the MAC must-have list. Instead, I wanted to try unsung shades and share them with my readers.

MAC Forever Curious (Matte lipstick)

Mac describes it as a ‘Pinky Red’. But I would say it is warm undertones and medium-dark peachy coral. A creamy rich Lipstick formula with a high color payoff in a no-shine matte finish. It has a deep pigmentation and could be applied smoothly and evenly with only one fluid stroke. The lipstick’s texture is light, making it easy to wear and apply.

I love this shade as it provides great coverage to my pigmented lips. It also complements my skin tone. I think it would look great on fair to medium/tan skin tones. But again, you can always check it out personally.

I could not find many reviews on MAC Forever Curious online. So, if you want to grab this shade then don’t wait.

MAC Get the Hint? (Matte lipstick)

Mac describes it as a ‘warm rose’ color. I would say it is a matte-finished medium pink with faint, warm undertones. It applies nicely across my lips and does provide complete color coverage. It has a smooth, lightly creamy matte texture that is slightly dense and has just about the right thickness.

As we know, almost all matte lipstick are little bit drying so lips exfoliation is recommended to get the smooth color to pay off.

This shade has become my most loved shade after MAC ‘Mehr’. I mean it gives an amazing pink hue that looks just right and does not wash me out. I was longing for such shades since I knew I could not wear ‘MAC please me’.

MAC BLUSHBABY POWDER BLUSH

This was my first blush from MAC. At that time, I had very little knowledge about how to wear blush, or what color I should pick for a natural look. Those days, I was just getting introduced to makeup and was wearing it occasionally.

MAC Blushbaby blush is a natural finish, sheer coverage powder blush.

The company describes it, as Beige-pink (sheertone) blush that is a super-fine pressed powder that instantly gives cheeks a natural-looking flush. With a natural finish and sheer, buildable coverage, this product is smooth. It spreads evenly and barely clings to the skin.

MAC Blushbaby blush has matte undertones, a muted medium pink color, and relatively warm undertones. It featured a smooth, stiffer, and richer consistency with a semi-translucent, buildable pigmentation that could be created with 2-3 layers.

I reach out to this blush most often and I love how it looks on me. It goes great with a no-makeup look. I believe it would suit fair to medium skin tone very well.

From a price standpoint, we get 6 G / 0.21 US OZ for $28 (USD) which I think is quite too much for the color. Although it is a beautiful everyday blush, I think it’s a very common color and you can find a dupe of it easily at the drugstore price.

So, I would say, don’t grab it online unless you intend to buy it. Visit your nearest MAC store and try a few swatches. If you think, this is going to be a unique shade in your vanity then go ahead. Or else, try to find out dupes of it, and as I’m sure you will get it in NYX, Tarte, etc.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish ‘Soft & Gentle’- Best Highlighter for Indian skin tone

MAC mineralize skin finish highlighter ‘Soft & Gentle’ is the most sought-after highlighter among beauty gurus, influencers, and make-up artists. This is the universally flattering highlighter or can say a blush topper that goes easy on cheeks without making a disco ball face unless you want to have one.

Hand swatches

Speaking of price, it retails for $40 and contains 10gm (0.35 us oz.). It’s expensive but worth a try. Usually, I stock up on all these products during black Friday or Christmas sales. It saves huge money. I wish MAC could come up with some affordable travel size kit that includes such best-selling products.

I wanted to show you how it reflects on the face, as you can see below in the picture. I have used it on my cheekbones and applied it very light-handed but still, it’s glowing. I like it.

My, Final thought

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Soft & Gentle is a beautiful highlighter that gives the most natural look. I highly recommend it to all skin tones except deeper skin tone beauties. I would say, try before you buy.

Last but not least, my Indian girlfriends, please try this highlighter in your nearest store. I am sure you will fall in love with it. It is indeed a universally flattering highlighter.

I would definitely recommend it to my friends and family.

MAC ‘Lens Blur’ Powder Kiss Soft Matte Eye Shadow

It is a part of the MAC Powder Kiss collection. First they launched their Lipstick collection followed by the eye shadow and liquid lipsticks collection.

MAC described “Lens Blur” as a bright rich violet. A pillow-soft, matte, pressed-powder eye shadow with an ultra-creamy texture that delivers a beautifully diffused, blurring effect on lids.

It is a soft-matte, cool tone berry color eye shadow.

MAC ‘Lens Blur’ Powder Kiss Soft Matte Eye Shadow has a gorgeous matte berry color with cool undertones. It had a soft consistency that was slightly powdered yet felt more velvety, almost smooth to the touch, but not as opaque as I was expecting. It provided semi-opaque, buildable color coverage.

I love this powdery eyeshadow and glides smoothly across the lid. However, it is not as pigmented as it looks in the pan.

So, on medium to deep skin tones, this color might not show up well. But there are other ways you can still pull it off.

You can apply a light foundation on your lid to help this color appear in its original form. You might need a generous amount of shadow for application unless you want to throw a soft color on eyelids in a jiffy.

I was looking for a good deep berry color eye shadow under my budget. Last year Black Friday there was a deal on the MAC website for 40% off on eyes. I could not take my eyes off of lens blur and bought a refill pan.

So, I would say MAC’s powder collection is good but since its name “Powder Kiss Soft Matte Eye Shadow” focuses on being very soft matte appearance that offers very less opacity.

At least Lens Blur is not so bad and I use it happily. But guys If I compare, I wonder, how the lighter shade will appear on eyelids when the opacity is the real issue.

Anyways, since it’s summer, I enjoy applying this shadow during day time followed by eyeliner and mascara. Job done 😀.

MAC Tsk Tsk! Lipstick – Limited edition (Short Post)

It was a part of the MAC “Boom Boom Bloom” makeup collection. I am glad that I could grab it when it was launched here in the USA. I love this shade equally as I love Mac Flat out Fabulous and other pink and bright lipstick I owned. So, thought of sharing it with you.

This lipstick is not for the faint-hearted, that was said in jest. I mean, MAC Tsk Tsk! Lipstick is a medium-dark, satin-finished fuchsia with a somewhat cool undertone (limited edition) lipstick. In-person, it looks way brighter than what you see in the below pictures.

Semi-matte makes it wearable in summer, at the same time very comfortable on lips. A non-drying formula is so opaque and offers excellent color payoff in a single swipe. I am so obsessed with it and that’s the reason I did not feel like buying candy yum yum which is I think brighter shade than Tsk Tsk or other bright shades from MAC. At times I feel, I grab it more often than “Ruby woo“.

I had uploaded a video featuring Mac “Tsk Tsk” lipstick to complete my simple and very basic makeup look. If interest please head out to it.

I wish I could mention dupes but unfortunately, so far, I have not come across any closer shade to it.

Such a beautiful shade to flaunt in Indian Outfit. Believe me, if you are comfortable wearing fuchsia shades then this Kind of shade will be the cherry on top, and be ready to receive countless compliments.

The best MAC lipstick for Indian skin tone – MAC MEHR

“MEHR” was created by Mickey Contractor for his wife, a well-known Indian MAC cosmetics artist. As described by MAC, it’s a matte dirty blue pink, and the blue undertones are noticeable. It’s the most natural-looking matte lipstick that looks well on Indian skin tones.

One of the most sought-after shades that suit almost all skin tone beauties. Especially, Indian beauties can buy this shade without blinking their eyes. A ton of thanks to its creator for his extraordinary and amazing contribution.

This is my second tube that I am equally excited to use it. Best go-to lipstick for every occasion.

MAC “MEHR” is matte finish lipstick and a quite comfortable formula on lips. It is a very popular and famous shade across the nation and among the beauty blogger/ influencers. I prefer matte finish lipstick over other formulas viz. Satin or amplified finish from Mac.

As I have mentioned earlier, I personally love this shade, and already on the “Must have” list.

Also, this is the best-suited lip shade for fair to medium skin tone. However, deeper skin tone beauties might wanna try it before they buy it, as it might wash you out. Otherwise, no doubt about “Mehr”. This creamy, thick formula has a matte finish with an excellent color payoff.

Comparison between Mac MEHR and Mac Brave.

Apparently, it seems this unique shade is hard to find in any other brand and so the dupe of it (Exact match). I would recommend this shade to all Indian beauties. If planning to stop by the nearest MAC store then would insist to try it on.

Few things to note down, it is a Matte finish so make sure you prep your lips before you apply it. Especially if you have chapped lips like mine. Or else it might accentuate fine lines. Since it is not ultra-matte, you are in safe hands so don’t worry, it’s quite hydrating and won’t let you down for at least 4-to 5 hrs.

Here in the USA, its MRP is $19 (USD) for 3 G / 0.1 US OZ.

The best natural face powder MAC Mineralize skinfinish

This year Black Friday (2021), I wanted to grab a few cosmetics, and for that, I was setting my eyes on emails for discounts, and guess what! I got 50% off on MAC face products. Finally!

That was a moment I could not hold back my temptation to grab Mac mineralize skinfinish powder, after seeing so many good reviews. So I ended up ordering Mineralize Skinfinish Highlighter and Mineralize skinfinish natural powder.

But today, let’s talk about MAC Mineralize skinfinish natural powder.

My views on mineralize skinfinish natural powder

Mac describes it as “A luxurious, slow-baked, domed natural face powder with low-level pearlized pigments – M∙A∙C Mineralize Skinfinish Natural provides a dimensional yet natural finish. This baked powder can be used alone, to set the foundation and touch up makeup throughout the day”.

I bought the shade medium-plus. Now I don’t know what’s slow-baked means, but I could understand the texture and its efficiency after using it.

So first, I tried it on its own, as foundation powder. I could see the beautiful natural sheer coverage powder blending into my skin flawlessly.

I really like its result. The lightweight formula provides the “pretty face” look but not the “no-makeup” look, hope you get my point. As I always mention on my blog posts about my acne problem that keeps coming off and on, and that’s the reason I could see some prominent marks/dark spots on my skin peeking through it. So this powder will probably work best as a setting powder instead of using it as a (foundation powder). Moreover, it does not settle in the fine lines/wrinkles that make me a happy customer 😀.

It could be a great choice as a powder foundation for those who encounter very few acne issues in their lifetime. Again, it is a sheer coverage powder, so one can not expect full coverage, or for that matter, any flawless result.

For me, I am going to use it as a setting powder. I am glad that sheer coverage won’t change my foundation color. I have been using Too Faced setting powder for a while. So now I can say that MAC mineralize would be my next go-to face powder to lock my look for the day.

However, my biggest concern is the dome shape of the powder. It gives me a real hard time swirling around the brush to pick up the product, especially a big fluffy face brush. I could see that it picks up more product than needed, and during the process, some of the powder disperses in the air that gets utterly out of hand. However, I am trying to make it work.

My recommendation

I see this setting powder, a lot better option than spending on loose setting powders that sometimes could result in time-taking work. So I would highly recommend MAC Mineralize skinfinish natural powder to my friends and family. Being said that, kindly make sure you choose the right shade. My shade is NC 35 in MAC studio fix foundation. So medium-plus shade is a perfect match for me. In addition, you can use it as a bronzer by selecting a deeper tone shade according to your skin tone.

Last but not least, it is not a “Matte finish” powder, so ladies with oily skin type, please be aware! Especially in summer, so I would say, try before you buy.

Otherwise, it is a very great product to splurge on.

MAC retro matte ‘flat out fabulous’ vs Mac powder kiss lipstick ‘velvet punch’ lipstick

Yes! I know these two are totally different from each other like formula or say texture-wise. But the reason behind this article is to show you the color pay off and to compare powder formula with other matte lipsticks from Mac. So I picked up “flat out fabulous” which is a retro matte lipstick and a “velvet punch” which is a powder kiss lipstick. I could have chosen another matte lipstick shade to describe it against powder kiss lipstick but these two belong to a sort of similar color family more like cousins…Lol!!. For reference, I am NC42(though I think it is a little more orange+ish for my skin).

On thanksgiving, Mac was offering 40% off on lipsticks so I decided to buy powder kiss”Velvet punch” lipstick, and of course, I tried their virtual “try it on” with live cam. There I saw a very beautiful & gorgeous fuchsia color on my lips. I fell for it and made a purchase. Now, let’s see what I think about it.

In the picture below, from the left is “velvet punch” and right is “Flat out fabulous”.

A Retro matte Cool-toned bright Fuschia lipstick so opaque with excellent color pay off. Single swipe transfers bright Fuschia onto lips. However, lips need to be exfoliated and hydrated beforehand is highly recommended else it would be very hard to apply it. And most important thing is, even if it is a retro matte it will not dry down your lips !. This one is my favorite shade and among other retro matte colors which is pretty long lasting as well …So it’s like if somebody asks me to pick one matte I will definitely choose flat-out fabulous (Ruby woo as well). It is a very gorgeous color and will suit all skin tones. So people who are into very bright colors and ready to flaunt, please go and grab it…I am very happy with this one :).

Powder kiss Velvet Punch

A unique powder formula makes it special. It is described as a weightless moisture-matte lipstick that delivers a blur of soft-focus color. It is a cool tones Fuschia not really very bright & less opaque with a low hydration level (for dry lips like mine). On fair and deeper complexion it might look a little brighter but on medium skin tone, I doubt about it. I tried to feel its presence on my lips but I think, it is indeed a revolutionary weightless formula. Being said that, it gives you a powdery feel..all the time. Every powder lipstick may look different on every skin tone. Although, these are the best seller lippies that people have approved. But on the contrary, my personal experience after trying other 2-3 lipsticks shades (at store before pandemic) from the same finish was not good at all. I am NC 42 and I remember I tried some red shade, it was just another Cool toned red that I could get similar shades from drugstore brands at a cheaper price so thanks to NYX . I don’t think it is long-lasting as well.

So finally I am getting very hard time to get along with it. I was expecting a very bright intense color instead I got shade which looks very very regular (not my type) on me, no matter how many layers I apply.

Let’s talk on very interesting topic today and yess! as you read the caption it’s “Lipstick”. No matter how old we are, no matter if we are Dark ,Brown or white & no matter if we are beginner or professional it will always find its way to our vanity or most of the time in a hand purse. It has earned its place in our heart so on the lips. Look at just any lip products you own even if sitting ideally you will definitely want to swatch it. I know I know ! it’s Tempting. Anyway, time to dig into it.

Before we start I would like tell all my friends that that MAC Lipsticks offer different types of finishes/textures so always recommendable to understand it when you add it in your shopping cart. Some formulas glides so beautifully on lips that it takes us straight to Hawaii & some are so true to its nature specially Retro Matte lipsticks that it needs a lot of efforts to apply it but results are amazing though. No doubt !!!!

Mac Diva

If somebody is already following Mac lipsticks then they will probably laugh at me as Mac Diva is already into the “Limelight” so what’s the point reviewing it now ? yeah I get it girls but every opinion counts so let’s continue. It is an intense reddish- burgundy color as described on the company website but for me it looks like a dark burgundy berry color with a matte finish. It has a huge fan followers across the world. It is the most beautiful & sought after Lipstick from Mac and will take your style swag to the next level. At the same time it is very dark color so some of you might think its a vampy color and I am totally agree with you!LoL!. All skin tone can pull it off it is so comfortable matte on the lips such a luxurious formula and excellent color pay off in a single swipe. Oh! I love to see this one particularly on my brown and dark beauties I can’t take my eyes off it is so irresistible. Formula is long lasting but might need a touch up after 6 hours or so as it’s a creamy matte.

Mac Ruby Woo

This one is the iconic red lipstick which will suit all skin tones without any second thought and have won so many “best lipstick awards” being popular shade it has always been a talk of the town. Such a unique vivid cherry red with blue undertone and again bestseller from Mac. It is a Retro Matte finish lipstick & has opaque application and thus name says it all a very matte or one can say a true matte. Lips to be Prepped n Prime before applying retro matte is advisable that too with a lip liner just to avoid feathering or else it will give you a very hard time for application. Believe me I have tried it in the past without exfoliation and it was totally gross! no one wants to be seen with cracked or chapped lips having lippy on, but look at the brighter side if you get a chance try this one in the store, must have lipsticks guys I bet other girls will envy you after all “lips don’t lie”. Who needs a retouch-up, matte formulas often comes to the rescue so yeah its quite long lasting.

Mac Relentlessly Red

Now this one I do not wear as frequently as needed because I always get stuck between other reds , pinks and burgundies but this one is another bestseller from Mac. Bold and beautiful bright pinkish coral fuchsia retro matte alluring people to stare at your lips. Yes ! that bright and coral plays its magic giving you a fashionista look all the time(AM/PM). Fair to medium,Brown or dark skin tone can easily pull it off being said the shade will show its true color/hues as it is very pigmented n so rich in color. Recommended to try it in the store to check the vibrancy of it, completely a showstopper. However, Relentlessly red is a warm tone lipstick and the formula is little more drying compare to other retro matte so exfoliating lips prior to application is “must”.
